London Day Out
It was a sunny day - perfect for a train trip to London! Arriving early at the station, we amused ourselves with a bit of people-watching. To our right, three stylish ladies looked like they were also off for a day of shopping and dining. To the left, a businessman and a lady with matching suitcases were clearly colleagues on a business trip. People-watching always brings a fun perspective! 😆
Finally, our train arrived, and our journey began. When in London, Olive becomes our GPS, leading Green around without any need for tech!
First stop: Selfridges! We were on a mission to find a birthday gift for a friend but had no ideas at first. We wandered through lipsticks, makeup, necklaces, handbags, and keyrings - basically, everything! Then, on the 4th floor, Olive spotted a UK-limited edition Fish & Chips toy by Jellycat. Mission complete! After hours on our feet, we were ready for a lunch break.
Guess where we ate? A Japanese restaurant adorned with pink cherry blossoms 🌸. We indulged in a Wagyu Sukiyaki Set, a 5-Sashimi Platter, and the Truffle Seared Wagyu, Uni, and Ikura Don. Delicious!
Next up was Harrods, where navigating the maze of lifts and escalators felt like an adventure. After some shopping, we ended up in the food hall, drooling over the Home Cured Gravadlax & Caviar Croissants with gold leaf, lobster rolls, and more. With no seating and the day winding down, we decided to pick up a few treats for the train: Prosecco and Greek yogurt from Sainsbury’s and Iberico Ham from Harrods. Simple pleasures for the ride home! 🥂
Funnily enough, when we got back, we spotted the same businessman and lady with matching suitcases from the morning. Small world!
Green described our day in musical terms: starting with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, serene and graceful, and ending with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, busy and vibrant.
